The future of .com domain extension – Possible Scenarios for 2009

Filed Under (.com domain) by John Khu on 16-04-2009

The New Year is a big year for all domain traders. Domain traders who are looking to gain by selling their domain names may need to find fresh opportunities and greener pastures in this year because of a number of reasons and causes. The world is witnessing a major economic downturn and no one seems to be safe in the world of economic turbulence especially in the American and European countries. Industry experts are predicting some bleak scenarios for the domain market especially in connection with the evergreen .com and .net registrations. Web experts and research reports are suggesting that there may be a steep decline in the number of .com and .net domain registrations in 2009.

The reasons for these possible scenarios could be:Price increase for .com and .net names: Incidentally, there has been a steep increase in the price of these domains by almost 15%. Most of the .com and .net domains display millions of ads on their pages. Because of the economic scenarios, the overall number of ads may actually come down in the year. Parking firms are actually facing the wrath of the situation because of lesser parking registrations. The era of domain tasting seems to be over now as most of the registrars are facing an over-inventory problem. Because of this, lot of domain traders may not be too keen on buying .com and .net names.

For these reasons, most of the registrars and the ICANN are trying hard to push new and fresh domain name extensions. ICANN has its own share of problem as its major income comes by the way of revenue share earned by domain name registrations. This may be the sole reason for them to intervene to save the situation. Whatever the situation may be, the year 2009 seems to be very exciting for domain name traders with the arrival of new domain names extensions.  http://www.ExpiredDomainGains.com

Never be Too Emotional with Your Expired Domain Names!

Filed Under (Expired Domain Names) by John Khu on 12-02-2009

Are you getting too emotional and obsessive with some of your expired domain names? Expired domain names could be cherished and affectionate pieces of properties to some domain traders. Holding on to these domain names forever could be counterproductive to you because of number undesirable reasons. Just consider one of the highly successful realtors! Commercially successful real estate entrepreneurs have the habit of selling invaluable pieces of estate to the highest bidder. They will never hold on to a property unless there is a valid reason like very low current market prices.

A given expired domain name may look, feel and sound very good and pleasing to you. But, it does not mean that you should hold on to such domains for long. The most disastrous event of holding on to a series of domain names is the immense loss incurred while holding the domains. Holding on to expired domain names just because you love and adore some of them is a dangerous sign.

To avoid possible financial implications, you may wish to sell domains as soon as you get a fair and decent offer. You can gain immensely, when you create a big volume and turnover for a large inventory of average expired domain names. But, ensure that you are holding on to those domains that are premium and special. Never sell a domain name that has the following qualities:

Top level domain
Two or three lettered domains
Generic and special keyword names
Names that signifies products and services.

However, flipped domains could form great asset to their owners because of their immense commercial value in terms of traffic, inbound links, commercial viability and money making possibilities.
